A Vision for Food Security & Sustainable Impact: HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali Visits AMAN HUB

Amman, Jordan

AMAN GROW had the distinct honor of welcoming Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Ali to its flagship facility, AMAN HUB, accompanied by a distinguished delegation from the Hashemite Fund for the Development of Jordan Badia, including its Director Mr. Jamal Al-Fayez and committee members of the IEC Alumni.

AMAN HUB, a 4,000 m² innovation center, is dedicated to demonstrating AMAN’s Modular Food Production Systems (MFPS). These systems are built upon the Integrated Aqua-Vegeculture System (iAVS), a resilient and sustainable food production methodology developed in the mid-1980s by Dr. Mark McMurtry. The iAVS model integrates fish and crop production in a closed-loop system, designed to thrive in water-scarce and arid environments—offering a transformative approach to food security.

HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali is a globally respected environmental leader and the first Arab woman to receive the UNEP Champions of the Earth Award. She is the Founder of the Royal Botanic Garden Jordan, Co-founder of the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS), an Ambassador for the Black Jaguar Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador for the FAO, and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of the Jordan Badia. Her visit highlighted her lifelong dedication to sustainability, biodiversity conservation, food security, and the empowerment of communities in arid regions—principles that align closely with AMAN GROW’s mission.

During her tour, HRH Princess Basma explored the facility’s four integrated commercial iAVS systems with evident enthusiasm. She engaged in in-depth discussions with the AMAN Grow team on the importance of climate-resilient, community-based agricultural solutions, and the broader potential of sustainable food production models for the future of water-scarce regions.

“We are deeply grateful for the visit of Her Royal Highness,” said [Ahmad Abdin ,  CEO of AMAN GROW]. “Her leadership and tireless commitment to environmental and social development are a constant source of inspiration for our team. Her presence has strengthened our mission to innovate, empower, and drive lasting impact through sustainable agriculture.”

Since 2016, AMAN GROW has worked relentlessly to advance iAVS technology in Jordan through self-funded research, the establishment of pilot and commercial units, and collaboration with global iAVS advocates, including the late Gary Donaldson. These efforts have laid the foundation for a scalable, climate-resilient food production model that AMAN is offering to communities across the region.

With every step forward, AMAN GROW reaffirms its commitment to not only growing food—but cultivating a movement for food security, environmental resilience, and a greener, more sustainable future for all.
